Science has now shown that the mortality rate for people who breathe is 100%. There are no exceptions. So be kind to the people you meet because they're going to die. And be kind to yourself, because you are too.
This has been a Public Service Announcement from People for a Saner Planet.

I was in a used bookstore today, on College Street, in Toronto, and saw a poster for the Hear/Hear Reading Series, with my name on it. I almost pointed and yelled, “Hey, that’s me!” I stopped myself, worried that it might come across as arrogance rather than pure bloody shock. Stop, breathe, you can keep grinning, they’ll just think you’re an idiot. Now go about your business.

The Barracuda is now available in stores!
The Barracuda is a collection of students' writings from the SWAT (Students, Writers and Teachers)program, which I'm a part of. It's a great program and worthy of support. And the students' work is amazing and inspirational!
For more information please see below and/or click on the title.
Have you been looking for your very own copy of the 2010 S.W.A.T. student writing anthology, The Barracuda? Well, now you can just head on over to your nearest book or magazine store and pick one up. Yep, you read that right — The Barracuda is now available in stores!
The picture on the left was taken at NHT! staffer Rachel's local branch of Toronto bookstore chain Book City. But you don't have to be in Toronto to buy your copy of The Barracuda. The anthology is being distributed to all the same book and magazine stores as our friend and mama Descant Magazine. There's a list of all these retail locations (all over Canada!) over on Descant's website.
If you still can't get your hands on a copy of The Barracuda near you, not to fret! You can always buy one over at the merch page (and maybe pick up a t-shirt while you're there?).
If you're as excited to see the amazing work by 2009's S.W.A.T. students in stores as we are, you can peek at a few more pics after the jump!
